Port Vale Reaction

Assistant boss Richard O'Kelly was quoted after the Port Vale game as saying: "Until it's mathematically certain, I don't think you can take your foot off the gas. And the other side of the coin is that you want to give a professional performance whenever you play so the team is looking to do that. It was an excellent point against a Vale side that has been difficult to beat in recent times. We changed a couple of players and ended up with a younger side with an average age of 22 and the longer the game went on, the better we got. We made the changes for our team shape and also to bring in some fresh legs which is very important because we've played four games in eight days which is a hell of a workload".

Meanwhile, for Vale, their boss, Martin Foyle was quoted on BBCi on a "dour end-of-season game" and went on to say "We worked on them, thinking they were going to play 3-5-2 ....... but they've given us a bit of respect and come here and played 4-3-3, and it's stopped us playing. Some people don't understand tactics, but when two teams play 4-3-3 against each other, it does stifle it. That's why we've played it a lot this season".
