Vale manager was quoted as saying: "We were dismal in the last two games and lethargic in the first-half here. But I've got to praise the players for picking themselves up in the second half and I thought we just about deserved to win. People don't always realise the problems managers can have at this time of year. A lot of my players are out of contract in the summer and it was hard to keep lifting them".
