Portsmouth Reaction - Cherries

Manager Eddie Howe was pleased with the outcome against Portsmouth, being quoted in the Bournemouth Evening Echo as saying: "Every competition we enter, we want to do as well as we can so it was a real positive to progress. The challenge now is to see how far we can go. I thought we were good. The first half was a bit slow for my liking but it wasn’t totally unexpected because we knew Portsmouth would be resolute and compact. We knew they would drop off and let us have the ball in certain areas of the pitch. We knew we would have to be patient and, the longer the game went on, the more spaces opened up and we got chances. We took one and probably could have taken more. But the clean sheet was the highlight for me. We looked tight at the back and Ryan didn’t have a lot to do".
