Speaking after their 1-0 defeat at Dean Court, Pompey manager, Guy Whittingham, is quoted in the Portsmouth Evening News as saying: "I was really pleased with how we stuck at it tonight against a good Championship side. Of course I’m disappointed we lost, but the players responded well from Saturday and there were a lot of good performances across the side. We wanted to freshen things up after that Oxford match and it showed we’ve got some really good players in this squad, which is what we’ve thought for a long time. They kept going right to the end and I’m pleased with the amount of effort they put in against a team who love to pass the ball around".
