Preston On His Debut

The 17-year old youth teamer, speaking in the Bournemouth Evening Echo, is quoted as saying about his debut: "It was a dream come true. I was hoping to make the bench so to start came as a bit of a shock. I found out on Friday and although that gave me a day to calm down and to think about the game, I was still very nervous. I woke up a few times thinking about it and was a bit shaky. But once I got on to the pitch, everything was fine and the other lads gave me confidence. I settled in and all the lads helped me out, on and off the pitch, and everything went well. It was a great experience and will stay with me for a very long time. Joining the first-team squad has been very different and a great experience. Fortunately, I've had a few reserve games to help me. Joe Roach has helped me all the way through and given me some extra training. I've just got to keep working hard, whether it's with the youth team or the first team, and try my hardest between now and the summer. It's brilliant to be at a club where you know you might get a chance. I've always worked as hard as I can, I got my chance and thought I did reasonably well".

Jimmy Quinn is quoted as saying: "Carl Preston will remember the day for a long time. I thought it was important to take him off so he got a round of applause. He's got the potential to be a tremendous player".
