Kevin Bond, speaking after the match is quoted on BBCi as saying: "It was important we didn't give anything cheap away, and unfortunately we did. We needed to be resilient and try to get an ugly win, but we didn't really have the players available to us to create much of a threat. But on the plus side, I thought Darren Anderton was magnificent out there".

Needless to say, the Rovers camp was pleased with the win. Their manager, Paul Trollope was quoted on BBCi as saying: "We had the better of the first half without scoring, and in the end we ran out worthy winners. We had a bit of a scare at the end. Had the goal stood, it would have been a huge blow. Chris Carruthers said he was fouled, but it only came to that because of poor play on the halfway line".
