Richard Hughes Departs for Portsmouth

Richard Hughes has been signed by Portsmouth, following Eddie Howe in a move to the First Division Club. The move also means that the AFC Bournemouth Exiles Club will be electing a new Club President this weekend at the AGM. If you would like to nominate a new Club President, who must be a current player, please email Andy Burton.

In an exclusive interview with the Exiles Club, Richard wished all Exiles every success, and thanked us for his tenure as Exiles Club President, and said that he had no hard fellings towards the Football Club, or ourselves. I for my part wish him every success at Fratton Park, and hoped he'd take every penalty for his new employer!! At which he laughed!!

BBC Text stated that the move was for an undisclosed fee, but the TeamTalk web site indicates that the deal is worth £100,000, of which £20,000 will have to go to Arsenal. The move sees yet another player depart during the Closed Season leaving a skeleton squad at this moment in time. This of course is on th heals of Danny Smith, James Ford, Tresor Kandol, Graeme Mathie, David Birmingham, Willie Huck and Pascal Tetu at the end of last season.
