After the game, Darren Anderton was interviewed on BBC Radio Solent about his 35-yard debut goal. Here is what he had to say: "Neil Young told me 'Have a whack' - so I did, and once it got past the wall, I thought it was in. Training's one thing, playing games is another, so the sooner I get four or five games under my belt the better. I've always wanted to play central midfield. There was a time at Tottenham when Gerry Francis moved me inside, but I always played wide for England. And at 34 I'm not going to be running past anyone down the wing any more. But they're a good set of lads here, and the quality was good as there were two teams out there trying to play football".

Caretaker boss, Jow Roach was also quoted on Solent as saying: "I suppose at the end of it we we are happy with the point. They put us under some pressure at the end and we changed our shape to accommodate one or two things, which probably didn't suit us to be fair late on. We had opportunities early on, hit the bar, disappointed with the goal that was disallowed, I thought it was a good goal. We now have points, in terms of aspects of the game that we can work on and improve. It was nice get the home game under our belt and get a result from it at the end and credit to Scunthorpe in the last ten minutes. 4-4-2 obviously suits them, it doesn't particularly suit us but we had to get a hold of the game for a period of time and probably lost our foothold on it in that period. But I'm pleased the way things are going, the lads are responding very well. We had a good corner and James Hayter had a good header and it would have been fantastic to go a goal up at that time. But we went a goal down and yet again we showed a lot of character to get back on the ball again and obviously, the goal that Darren Anderton scored was a fantastic freekick so he played his part today. Technically he has got those attributes".

Scunny manager was quoted after the match as saying: "The mood in the changing room is very quiet. The players are down. "They are feeling the same as me, that was a game we could have won. They are gutted. But there are positives. In the first 15 minutes Bournemouth bossed the game. But for the rest of the match I felt we were in charge and they never caused us any trouble".
