Manager Eddie Howe, speaking on BBC Radio Solent, was quoted after the match as saying: "It's always edgy at 1-0 but I thought we were well in control of the game, especially in the first half. I can't really remember Scunthorpe having any chances or Ryan being called into too much action. I thought we were quite comfortable but we desperately wanted the second goal just to see the game through a little bit more relaxed. We were very controlled, we were brave as always, players were rotating positions and we looked like a really good football team. I think we've seen the players act really professionally. The lads have grown from experiences this season and I'm delighted with the way we defended today".

And in the Bournemouth Evening Echo, went on to say: "Our defending in recent weeks has been much improved and it was great to get another clean sheet. I don’t care by what score we win as long as we win. We would like a better goal difference at this stage of the season but points are the priority. The lads have been very professional in their approach and in seeing out games. When you are winning 1-0, there is a tendency to drop deep and try to defend from you own penalty box for the last 10 to 15 minutes. We haven’t done that and have tried to keep the ball in the opposition’s half".
