Shrewsbury Town Reaction - Cherries

Speaking after the match in the Bournemouth Evening Echo, manager Jimmy Quinn is quoted as saying: "At half-time I told certain individuals that if they thought the first half was good enough then they won't be playing in this team. We knew they were a decent side and they are going to be there or thereabouts at the end of the season. At times they made us look ordinary, but they made us look ordinary because we weren't prepared to roll our sleeves up. They are a decent side but I thought we flattered them a little bit because we didn't work hard enough. In the first half, there was probably only three players in our team who competed as well as I would expect. People started to lose their composure on the ball and I told them at half-time to get the ball down and pass it. As soon as the ball is in the air, it's a 50/50 for me unless you are crossing in the final third. We were hitting long balls but they weren't really directed well enough and we played into their hands a little bit".

Scott Guyett was quoted after the match as saying: "We changed it around early on. Joel Ward started in the middle as a sweeper and after about 15 minutes I went in there. It's difficult because we've had a good understanding back there in the last few games. But due to injury and illness we had to try something different today and unfortunately it didn't work. Both their wide men got on quite well and in the first half it seemed like they were breaking from all areas. We just couldn't contain them. We made the change to try and set our stall out and be a little harder to beat, but it didn't quite work. They've got a good strike force and I think they are the best side we've played this season".
