Shrewsbury Town Reaction - Shrews

Shrewsbury Town manager, Paul Simpson, was quoted after the match on their Clubs Official Web Site as saying on the defeat against AFC Bournemouth: "It's a massive disappointment - I thought we definitely deserved something from the game. Sometimes the game can be cruel but I don't think there was a lot wrong with the performance. We worked extremely hard and after two games in a week against two of the supposed top teams in the division, I think we've shown we can compete, but maybe we just let ourselves down a little bit here. We allowed the referee to give free-kicks for every single challenge we made, and that's what gave us the problem at the end there. We said at half-time that Fletcher would come on and that they would stick everything long on him. He's won the first header and maybe we've panicked a bit. But if you have a referee who wants to penalise you all the time, you shouldn't be giving him any further invitations. I think it was Terry Dunfield who got the final touch to it. It doesn't really matter who it was to be honest but he didn't deserve that as he gave another excellent performance in midfield. As a team I feel we deserved something out of the game but we have to go home with absolutely nothing. The only thing people care about is the result and in tomorrow's papers it will say 1-0 to Bournemouth. When they have a young kid go in goals, we don't even test him. We had several opportunities to get our shots off and we've turned them down and try and go the extra check. You can't do it in conditions like today, which were really difficult for defenders and goalkeepers - you've got to hit as many shots as you can, because it can cause a lot of panic like the goal we conceded showed".
