Sporting Academy Next To Dean Court?

Proposed by new Cherries Director, Adam Murry, a Sporting Academy could be about to transform the area around Dean Court.

Speaking to the Bournemouth Evening Echo, Murry is quoted as saying: "This is my vision for an academy of opportunity for thousands of young people and I am determined to make sure that vision becomes a reality. This is a hugely exciting, mould-breaking scheme that could really put Bournemouth on the international map. There is nothing like it in Europe and it has the potential to be a huge asset for the area and its young people. The ultimate aim is to help take youngsters off the streets, give them goals, a sense of focus and open up all kinds of opportunities. We have witnessed a very worrying increase in gang culture, youth violence and substance and alcohol abuse in recent years and I really believe many young people need a sense of direction".

New facilities are said to include a new permanent 4th stand for Dean Court, together with new sporting facilities within Kings Park, including football, rugy and tennis.

The scheme would be independent of AFC Bournemouth, but appears to have the backing of the local council.
