Stars Staying

AFC Bournemouth have moved quickly to squash rumours that our best players could be on the move before transfer deadline day to help pay bills. Especially with news that the Club have been ordered to pay Andrew Noonan £81k by August 5th, 2005.

Speaking to the Bournemouth Evening Echo, Peter Phillips is quoted as saying: "Five years ago, I think that was the world we lived in and that's what clubs did. They just sold a couple of players and everything was okay. But we're not in that business now and it's not as if we've got spare players to sell anyway. Our squad needs strengthening not weakening. We will find the money. The board will do what they can and we will get help from elsewhere, I'm sure. But it's very difficult. Everybody knows we don't have that sort of money sitting around in the bank, but we will find it and we won't allow it to impact on the football side".

This on top of rumours of Brian Stock and a possible move to Swansea City and John Spicer off to either Stoke City or Sheffield Wednesday. But as Phillips says: "The reality is that over this close season, I haven't had a single approach, either formal or informal, from any club for any of our players".
