Manager Kevin Bond was quoted after the match as saying: "I had to take Darren Anderton off and he is the one player we have who can put his foot on the ball and keep it for us. We have a lack of experience in the middle of the park and I think that cost us at the end of the day. We have to learn how to grind out a victory and that will only come with experience as the team we had out was very inexperienced".

Willo was quoted on BBC Radio Solent after the match as saying: "Interesting to hear Josh say someone should have been on the edge of the box, sometimes when you make substitutions you have to be very on top of not only your substitutions, but their substitutions coming on. Making sure people are aware of markers and all the rest of it. And of course, Tate came on as a substitute in the second half so perhaps something has gone array there. But apart from that we were coasting. It was one of those games where you are getting ready to sing the praise of the players but of course, it's never over till its over. The ball ricocheted round for the second one, it got to Trundle in the end and he stabbed it home. But the lads stuck with it. We would have taken a point before the game although having said that we are all immensely disappointed".
