Symes IS About!

After rumours of Michael Symes's disappearance, going AWOL from Dean Court, Michael Symes has popped his head above the parapet again.

The striker was quoted in the Bournemouth Evening Echo as saying: "At first, I had a good laugh about it. I moved flats at the weekend and a guy helping me was a big Bournemouth supporter. He showed me the rumour on a website and it was bizarre. He took a photo of me and posted it on the forum to show people I hadn’t disappeared. I realised it was a bit more serious when a friend from another club phoned to ask if I had walked out. I didn’t find it funny then because I realised a lie like that could tarnish my reputation. It makes me look like I’m a bad egg and I would never dream of doing anything like that".

On his current injury: "Our physio, Steve Hard, assigned Dave Gardiner to work with me every day on a one-to-one basis and the work has been top class. I am sprinting, twisting and turning and doing everything with the ball. If everything goes to plan, I would hope to return to full training in the middle of the week. It feels better now than it has in previous times so, hopefully, it will stay strong and won’t go again. It was a nightmare, especially for it to go the week before the season started. It wasn’t a major injury and was only a grade-one tear. I have been to see a couple of people and they gave me exercises to build up the muscles. It was weak to begin with but is much stronger now and the improvement has been massive. If all goes well, I would like to think I would be available for selection for the weekend".
