Telfer Quits Dean Court

AFC Bournemouth have announced that Paul Telfer has cancelled his contract at Dean Court following news that he has been carrying a foot injury for the past couple of months, which requires surgery, which in turn would see him out for the rest of the season.

In a statement issued by the Cherries Chairman, Jeff Mostyn, on the Clubs Official Web Site, Mostyn is quoted as saying: "I would like to take this opportunity to thank Paul Telfer for his amazing gesture of support for AFC Bournemouth by offering to cancel his contract as a result of his injury. Paul Telfer has proved himself to be the ultimate professional both on and off the field. Paul could have chosen to have his operation, which will result in him missing the remainder of the season, and received full pay. In order to help the club in its current financial position, he chose to cancel his contract and will receive no further pay. I can not think of a greater gesture of support at this moment in time for the football club. Paul has been playing through immense pain during the past five to six weeks to help Kevin with the injury crisis and unsurprisingly his form has suffered. All credit must go to Paul for appearing rather than taking the easy option and remaining on the sidelines. On behalf of everyone at AFC Bournemouth I would like to wish Paul a speedy recovery from his operation and to thank him for his commitment to the football club".
