The latest player to arrive at Dean Court is Paul Telfer, signing a one-year deal.

Speaking at this mornings press conference, chairman Jeff Mostyn was quoted as saying: "On behalf of everybody at AFC Bournemouth I would like to welcome Paul to the club. We're absolutely thrilled to have encouraged Paul to join us here. We had an awful lot of opposition and it's an amazing privilege that Paul had turned down an offer from the Premiership to help progress our fortunes at Dean Court. I can't thank Paul enough for showing us the confidence he has in the club and I'm delighted to have someone of Paul's integrity and professionalism at the club. I think it will add an awful lot to the dressing room".

What do we know about Paul Telfer? He was born in October 1971 and is a defender. His first club was Luton Town back in 1988, where he made 136 league appearances before moving to Coventry City in a deal worth £1.15 million in 1995. Some 178 league appearances later, he then moved on to Southampton in 2001 (112 league appearances) after which he went to Glasgow Celtic in 2005 for £200k.

He is said to have turned down a number of other clubs, including those in the Championship, to come to Dean Court.

The last competitive game he played was in the Champions League against AC Milan. His next competitive match is likely to be against Nottingham Forest in League One!
