The Race To Escape Hots Up!

Last updated : 25 April 2008 By Bournemouth Co-Ordinator
here's our look ahead at the weekends matches as the race to beat the drop to League Two will be a test of nerves for all the clubs involved.

AFC Bournemouth v Crewe Alexandra
A couple of weeks ago, this match was looking vital for both clubs in their bid to avoid the drop. But for Crewe the urgency has been removed slightly with a recent up turn in form. For the Cherries, the urgency is very much still there as they remain in the bottom 4 even though they have chalked up 5 straight wins and 6 wins in the last 7 games. A win for the Cherries is vital, anything less will see them fall in to League Two. PREDICTION: HOME WIN

Gillingham v Swindon Town
For Gillingham, this is a must win game regardless if they have any chance of staying up, especially as the Gills have a tricky game away at Leeds United on the final day of the season! For Swindon, their recent erratic form seems to have come to an end with a recent up turn in their form which will see them comfortably finish in mid-table. PREDICTION: SCORE DRAW

Millwall v Carlisle United
Millwall will be looking over their shoulders this weekend given the visit of Carlisle United, who are still chasing an automatic promotion place. The only saving grace for Milwall is that they have a better goal difference than Gillingham and Cheltenham, should that be required, but 10 defeats at home this season is not a good statistic! PREDICTION: AWAY WIN

Oldham Athletic v Cheltenham Town
For Cheltenham Town, this is a must win match, but will be a tall order against an away record that sees 15 defeats on the road this season. Oldham may not be challenging for the play-offs, but Boundary Park is never an easy place to visit at the best of times. Prediction: HOME WIN
