For AFCB, manager Sean O'Driscoll is quoted as saying: "Their first goal gave us a problem. Up to then we were in control. It was a bad goal as far as we were concerned by one of the smallest players on the pitch. We kept plugging away and were always hopeful of getting something from the game. We tried to change the system and did create some chances, but it was not to be".

For Tranmere Rovers, their manager, Brian Little, is quoted as saying: "It was a hard game for us. We thought we might have to be patient for a goal. But we got a break just before half time and the goal made a big difference to us. Bournemouth were pretty resilient, but I thought we were the better side on the night. I am very pleased with everything really. It is nice to win football matches".
