Manager Sean O'Driscoll was quoted after the match as saying (on BBCi): "I thought there were two good teams out there - it was a great performance, although I think both sides didn't want to lose it .... it was a scrappy goal for us to concede, but we didn't let it affect us and kept passing the ball".

For Tranmere Rovers, Brian Little was quoted as saying (on BBCi): "We knew it would be difficult - we'd have taken a draw before the game .... having gone 1-0 up, we're disappointed to have conceded as we stopped them getting chances, which was the plan. We didn't want them to get into full flow".
