Speaking on BBC Radio Solent, Gareth Stewart is quoted as saying: "It is always going to be a difficult place to come. Overall chance wise we didn't create as much as we might have liked. I thought we started well, we had a game plan, we stuck to it and it was working for us. We had absolutely no trouble in the first 44 minutes. We conceded a goal just before half time, which is a killer in anyone's book, and it makes it difficult. It's an uphill task, it is just a difficult time. The positives that the manager brought up [at half time] were that we had 44 minutes where we were okay. You have just got to remember that when you do concede a goal, sometimes a freak goal, sometimes a bad goal, sometimes people just work a goal against you and do it well. So whatever period of the game it's going to be disappointing. Just then, it is obviously more disappointing. You go in with a positive frame of mind, although it is an uphill task, you can do it and unfortunately we didn't".

After the match, Kevin Bond was quoted on BBC Radio Solent (same link as above) as saying: "'I was hugely disappointed to come in one-nil down at half time. We huffed and puffed to no avail and in the end; Tranmere will think they should have won by more. We are not a powerful or strong side and we have got to do something about it. We can`t keep a clean sheet and until we do so, we are going to be up against it. When you are really looking in the second half for somebody to make a difference for you, somebody with driving runs, people who can make a difference , to be honest we haven`t got it. We are struggling".

Ronnie Moore, Tranmere's manager, was quoted on their clubs official web site as saying: "It was scrappy and horrible. But it's nice when you can win like that. There were a lot of positives in the game. We had enough chances to have won by five or six. It was a great ball for the goal and Kevin [Ellison] has gambled. It's what we've asked of them - that they're on the front foot. He got across the lad and put it in the back of the net. I thought we were going to go on from there and put them under pressure and get a few more goals. We put them under pressure but didn't finish. We're still not as clinical as we can be".
