Brentford closed the gap to just a single point as they saw off troubled club Chester City at Griffin Park. A first half MacDonald hat trick (21st, 35th and 45th minutes) was more than enough to see off the Cheshire side. Brentford 2nd, Chester City 20th.

Bury let slip a winning position against Dagenham & Redbridge at Gigg Lane, as both sides had to settle for a point. A Sodje brace in the 28th and 33rd minutes gave the home side a 2-goal lead at the break. D&R hit back in the second half as Nurse pulled one back on the hour and Benson levelled just 4 minutes later. Bury 3rd, Dagenham & Redbridge 9th.

Bradford City leap-frogged Gillingham in the race for the play-offs with a 2-0 win at Priestfield. Daley gave the Bantams a first half lead just before the break, with Boulding making sure that the points were heading north with a 70th minute strike. Gillingham 8th, Bradford City 5th.

Shrewsbury Town slipped up at Dean Court as AFC Bournemouth secured a vital 1-0 win to close the gap on the clubs just above the drop zone. Pitman scored the only goal of the game, straight from a corner in the 23rd minute. AFC Bournemouth 23rd, Shrewsbury Town 7th.

The only other game played in League Two saw Exeter City make the long trip to Blundell Park to face Grimsby Town. Stewart gave the Grecians an 8th minute lead. Jarman levelled in first half injury time, and then gave the home side the lead in the 54th minute. Harley popped up with a leveller to ensure that the Devon side went away with a point. Grimsby Town 21st, Exeter City 10th.
