Two Review - May 10th

Shrewsbury Town were the first club to reach Wembley with a penalty shoot out won over Bury at Gigg Lane. The visitors had to wait until McIntype pounced on a dreadful defensove clearance to volley home in the 88th minute to level the scores on aggregate. The Shrews were then reduced to 10-men just 12 seconds in to extra time when Leslie was shown a straight red card for leading with an elbow in a challenge. Despite the numeric advantage, and numerous chances, Bury simply could not find a winner. So to penalties, which Shrewsbury won 4-3 following heroics from Daniels in the Shrews goal, who made a string of fine saves during the match and 2 saves in the shoot out itself.

Gillingham are the other play-off finalists, seeing off Rochdale at Priestfield. A brace from Jackson in the 13th and 58th minutes was enough to win through to Wembley. His strikes came either side of a Dagnall strike in the 36th minute. Dale had chances to level as the game went on, but like Bury in the lunchtime kick off, none were converted in to clear cut chances to seriously test the Gills keeper.

The League Two Play-Off Final will be between Gillingham and Shrewsbury Town on Saturday 23rd May, and will be covered live on Sky Sports.
