The Cherries started this match at a canter with Danny Hollands firing the Dean Court strugglers ahead after just 10 minutes with a shot from 12 yards. Walsall tried to battle back, but were thwarted by commanding performances from Josh Gowling and Jason Pearce.

With their first shot on target, Kevin Betsy managed to beat the offside trap to place the ball past David Forde to level matters in the 33rd minute.

From the restart, the Cherries went back down the other end for Jo Kuffour to restore the lead, with a shot from 18 yards. Further chances came and went as the Cherries forged forward for a third goal.

In the second period, Walsall didn't have much to offer going forward as the Cherries again pressed to extend the advantage.

One shout for a penalty appeal was waived away as Sam Vokes was floored in the penalty area by the Walsall 'keeper. But moments later, Kuffour had his shirt tugged in the penalty area which did result in a penalty, which was neatly despatched by Brett Pitman.

Further chances came and went as the Cherries pressed further, but no further goals were scored.
