March 10 Northampton Town 3-1 AFC Bournemouth Att: 5921

The less said about the first half the better! We were dreadful throughout the half! Quite simply, we made it too easy for Northampton to dictate the game to us, not helped by loosing the ball in midfield or lumping it forward to no one in particular only to see the ball come straight back at us!

An early warning was served in the opening passage of play when Northampton had a goal disallowed for off-side, to which Bournemouth responded with two off target efforts, one of which was a shot, from distance, from McGoldrick. The other coming from Hollands. After that Northampton were made to look dominant, even though they were in reality, quite poor!

It came as no great surprise when we failed to defend a corner, allowing Robertson to slot the ball home in the 17th minute.

The only other chance of the first half for the Cherries came towards the end when Purches made a rare forray in to the penalty area, only to shoot in to the side netting.

The start of the second half was much better! Clearly Bond had fired the perverbial rocket up them as Bournemouth came out firing on all cylinders. Reward came 10 minutes after the restart when Wilson connected at a corner to fire home. Sadly that was as good as it got as we let slip our advantage allowing Northampton to dictate terms again!

It was no surprise when Duechar headed home (a soft goal) in the 77th minute, which was followed in the 85th minute by another headed goal from Kirk, who also found it easy to head home.

All in all, very disappointing! We need to be winning against the likes of Northampton if we want to reamin in League One. As it is, we seem to be determined to make life difficult for ourselves.

The two new signings came on the second half, and showed flashes of good play in an other disappointing performance!
