March 8 AFC Bournemouth 2-3 Blackpool Att: 5390

Right from the off Blackpool were clearly up for the match, while Bournemouth were still (apparently) still in the starting blocks as Parker waltzed through the Bournemouth defence to fire the visitors into a 45 second lead!!

Bournemouth responded with several good chances before Brian Stock produced a delightful chip to level the scores in the 7th minute. From that moment it looked like we could have an avalanche of goals as both sides attacked and counter attacked, Bournemouth having the better chances.

It was Blackpool who took advanatage through a gift from Shaun Maher when he sliced the ball off the top of his boot to see the ball fly behind him and into the top left hand corner of Moss's goal! This on 26 minutes.

Chances to level for a second time came and went - such a shame that Steve Fletcher's header just before the half time break went over the bar instead of under!

HT: 1-2

Blackpool came out all fired up at the start of the second period, and extended their advantage on 51 minutes when Parker fired home from 10 yards. It was looking all too easy for Blackpool.

The response from Bournemouth was to make a triple change with the introduction of Browning, Connell and Rodrigues for Stock, Young and O'Connor. Sure the pace of the game picked up, but the extra pressure did not yield a quick second goal for Bournemouth, who, in the end, had to make do with an injury time penalty, which was neatly converted by Hayter.

Unfortunately, it was too little too late as Bournemouth slipped to their third home defeat of the season.
