After a first 45 minutes when the Cherries had more of the play, it was Jo Kuffour who netted a 20-yard strike just 4 minutes after the restart to fire AFC Bournemouth in to the area Quarter Finals of the Johnstone Paint Trophy.

A lead could have been established in the first half, but the chances that were presented were not taken. Most notably when Anderton fed the ball through to Vokes who saw his effort cleared off the line. Loanee Lallana gave the Rovers defence more than something to think about on his debut, and showed that he was not afraid to shoot either!

The Cherries pressed in the second, and got their reward 4 minutes after the restart through Kuffour. After that, the Cherries looked comfortable until the final 10 minutes or so when Rovers decided to join in.

Thankfully, a combination of poor finishing and good goal keeping kept Rovers at bay.
