Sept 17 AFC Bournemouth 2-1 Swindon Town Att: 7276

In a largely forgettable first half when neither side could string more than 2 or 3 passes together, the only moments of excitement came courtesy of one Barry Knight and some ineptn defending!

On 24 minutes Swindon Town's Andy Gurney was sent off for a 'professional' foul inside the area - straight red card shown - the penalty was converted by Jamie Hayter who sent the keeper the wrong way.

Swindon the equalised just before the break when a long throw was not dealt with, allowing Jenkins the easiest headers passed a flapping Stewart.

The sending off was harsh, and the defending poor!

HT: 1-1

The second half was better, but once again it took the intervention of the esteemed Barry Knight to really liven up proceedings in his own fashion!

But first a goal from open play for Bournemouth! A superb cross from James O'Connor was beautifully met by Jamie Hayter, who arrowed the header past the hapless Swindon keeper, and in to the bottom left hand corner of the goal on 68 minutes!

Just a minute later another red card was issued, this time to Josh Gowling for a foul inside the penalty area. Thorpe stepped up to take the penalty, but his effort was poor with Stewart parrying the penalty. The loose ball was pinged across the face of the goal by Whalley for Thorpe to put the ball in to the back of the net! The goal was ruled out for an off-side!! Oh how we laughed!

There were chances for Bournemouth to get a third, but that would have been harsh on Swindon and undeserved for Bournemouth given the poor display BOTH sides managed to cunjour up!

Neil Young - who dealt with everything this afternoon!
