AFCB started the better, Foley had an effort in the first minute, but placed the ball wide. Foley then had another effort, when his free kick was turned around the post by Murphy. From the resulting corner from Foley, Hayter headed just over the bar.

Then on 19 minutes Scunthorpe won a corner, poor defending saw the ball fall to Mackenzie and from 12 yards out he could not miss the empty side of the net. 0-1.

Scunthorpe were in control now, but on 22 minutes it was 1-1: AFCB won a free kick about 35 yards out, which Anderton struck with power and it sailed through the wall, the keeper got a hand to it but could not stop it going into top corner of the net.

More poor defending saw Sparrow shoot wide, rest of the half not much else happened.

HT: 1-1

Second half started with AFCB having the first effort, a Purches cross saw Fletcher outjump the defence, but his poor header hit the bar and somehow the rebound was headed wide by Hayter.

Then the linesman robbed Hayter of a goal: Foley's free kick was met by Hayter at the far post to score but the flag was raised for offside when he was clearly onside.

Hines then put the ball over the bar from a Scunthorpe corner, and for a while both teams cancelled each other out.

A Purches shot from distance was well saved by Murphy.

Sharp then wasted two chances near the end. First, when free in the box, his weak shot was gathered with ease by Stewart. Then he broke free and with just the keeper to beat allowed Stewart to save at his feet.

At times Scunthorpe looked one of the better teams in this league, and I think they will be up there at end of season. We still lack something in the team, and the defence looked shaky at times.

Man Of The MatchI know many would give it to Anderton, but I can't just because of his goal. On all round performance it will go to Gowling, who did his job well and will improve with every game.
